Great Manchester Run 2022 – Alexander & Co confirms its chosen charity
Great Manchester Run 2022 will take place later this month and Team Alexander & Co is once again putting on its running shoes and participating in this fun Manchester 10K event. For 2022 we have chosen to raise funds for The Disasters Emergency Committee, to help with their Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
In the 2020 Great Manchester Run, Team Alexander & Co was crowned winner in the small business challenge as part of the event, so there is a lot to run for this year (more on this here).
When is the Great Manchester Run 2022?
The Great Manchester Run 2022 will take place on Sunday 22 May 2022 (last years event was postponed and took place in September 2022). It is estimated circa 25,000 runners will take to the streets of Manchester to participate in the event, which includes the Manchester 10K run and a half marathon.
The day before the main event, on 21 May, a Mini Great Manchester Run is also taking place at the Etihad Sports Campus.
The start times for the event is understood to be as follows:
- 08:30 – Great Manchester Half Marathon red and blue waves
- 09:02 – Elite wheelchair
- 11:15 – Elite women
- 11:30 – Elite men & Great Manchester 10K orange wave
- 11:47 – Great Manchester 10K white wave
- 12:30 – Great Manchester 10K green wave start
- 12:47 – Great Manchester 10K pink wave start
About the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal through the Disaster Emergency Committee
The DEC brings together fifteen leading aid charities in the UK to raise funds efficiently and quickly at for overseas crisis. Its mission is to provide an effective humanitarian response to help save, protect and rebuild lives.
The DEC provides resources to work as one and assists in co-ordinating the public’s response from the UK to overseas disasters. The organisation believes it has an immediate impact in getting aid to people who need it.

Supporting the Greater Manchester 2022 run and the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal
With zones providing music and entertainment stationed at every kilometre throughout the course and is a fun packed day for all the family. Members of the public are welcome to come along to support and cheer the runners on throughout the day.
