Football’s coming home for Team Alexander
Football, and more particularly the World Cup is currently the topic of conversation for a several reasons. Yesterday, whilst the nation’s football focus may have been on the World Cup Games of Germany v Japan and Spain’s 7-0 victory against Costa Rica, Team Alexander had more important games in mind.
Alexander and Co were participating in the annual Business Fives Ltd football tournament for a worthy cause. As the Germany vs. Japan game was underway at the World Cup, Team Alexander competed against 34 other teams in the region, winning their first game 6-2 (the same as England’s first World cup score earlier this week). This was complemented by the second game win of 6-3.
Team Alexander was successful in winning all the games in their group and went on to win their quarter-final and semi-final games, ultimately being crowned the winners of this leg of the tournament. They will now go on to compete in the national finals in Leeds in April next year.
We are delighted our team won and more importantly raised vital funds for our chosen charity, Sands, who do amazing work.
After matching England’s opening score in our first game of the tournament, we are hoping the England camp can follow Team Alexander’s 6-3 victory in their second game tomorrow evening. Good luck England.
Our team had a fantastic day, and we would like to thank Business Fives Ltd for arranging this and their guest speaker Danny Simpson, for attending. Danny started his career at Manchester United and went on to win the premiership with Leicester City Football Club.
